As people age, many find that they are losing weight – unintentionally. In fact, after the age of 65, it’s normal to lose 0.2 to 0.4 pounds of body weight per year (Web MD).
Unintentional weight loss can be dangerous if you lose 5% or more of your body weight every 6-12 months.
Research shows that men normally tend to reach their maximum weight around age 55 and women at 65. They both begin to lose less than half a pound per year.
It’s important to remember that healthy weight loss in older adults should be gradual.
The Social Security Administration announced that customers who created an online account (e.g., My Social Security) before September 18, 2021, will soon be required to transition to a “Login.gov” or “ID me” account to continue access to their online services.
According to Social Security, the advantages of the change include simplifying the sign-in experience. A final date for the transition has not yet been set.
